Charming eco-gîte in Gascony

Located a stone’s throw from the first foothills of the Pyrenees, at the crossroads leading to Auch, Toulouse and Lannemezan, the small village of Moncorneil-Grazan sits between the Arrats river valley and the green hillsides of Haut-Astarac. Halfway up one of these hills you will find our home called Cassaet, an old farmhouse from 1740, made from raw earth and half-timbering and restored using traditional techniques and materials, as well as recently installed solar panels. The gîte “La Taupinière du Gers” has naturally found its place in this exceptional environment. Accessible independently of the house, it opens to the rear of the building via the first floor, with a large wooden terrace overlooking a magnificent tree-lined garden and a vast pond teeming with lotus flowers, water lilies, frogs, water hens and dragonflies…

Particular care has been taken in the creation of the gîte, its design and the choice of materials used, as well as the exceptionally well-supplied equipment. Mainly decorated in wood, the main accommodation has a large open-plan room (opening onto the terrace) which comprises the living room with dining corner, a well-stocked international library, the luxuriously furnished and equipped “American” kitchen, and the bathroom with corner bath and sink, a small well-equipped laundry room and a separate toilet. The 12m2 wooden covered terrace has a wooden table and 4 chairs and is beautifully lit at night. You will want to take most of your meals there, while contemplating the magnificent garden and the beautiful lily pond. In good weather, and if the atmosphere is clear, you may even discover the surprise backdrop of the majestic Pyrenees with their snow-capped peaks…

At the garden level, a second wooden terrace located in the shade under the first, will provide shelter for you to relax, gently cradled in the hammock to the sound of singing birds…

Layout

The main bedroom is located on the mezzanine, with a 140 cm double bed, very large closets, a reversible air conditioner and a flat screen DVD player with a large selection of films of all kinds (no TV!). The second bedroom, equipped with twin beds, a small sound system, and a ceiling fan, is installed in the pretty little Oriental Pavilion located just opposite the terraces of the main accommodation. In the same pavilion, compostable dry toilets have been fitted out. Children are often very proud to have “their own” little house.
